Hello friends! How was your Christmas? It was wonderful over here. I just honestly can’t believe it has come and gone, but the idea of a new year and a fresh start gets me so excited. I love starting from scratch and bringing in new ideas into my home for the new year. It feels so good to start off after Christmas with a clean slate, so I thought it would be fun to introduce a mini blog series called New Year Refresh to show you how I am freshening up each space while giving you a few tips along the way. Today, I’m sharing 3 super simple ways you can freshen up any space in your home in the new year. I’m starting in my entryway so let’s begin!!!
New Art Inspiration
I’m not one to really do winter decor. Winter decor is so beautiful, but after Christmas I am ready for something new and different. I found this beautiful scroll canvas art at Hobby Lobby this past weekend and knew that was going to be my inspiration for my entryway. I know I know, it totally has a spring vibe, but I absolutely loved it. This canvas was the perfect fit to put in the center of my giant vintage schoolhouse chalkboard. Anytime you can introduce a new piece of art with a great pattern to a space will instantly make it feel fresh and new. Just adding this canvas completely changed the look of this space.
Real or Faux Greens
I’m a huge fan of real or faux greens in your home. I think they just add a beautiful and cozy touch to any vignette. These greens are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. I love how real and flowy they look. Learn all about my favorite faux stems HERE. I added them to a few large crocks to balance out my canvas art. They instantly add a fresh look to any space. When spring comes along, I will probably add a few real plants too, but for now, I love to use these all over my home.
Textured Pillows and Books
I love adding a pillow to pretty much any area to add a pattern or texture to the space. A pillow can also be added to unexpected places too. I added this pillow to the top of a small vintage ladder to really soften up the area. Remember, a pillow doesn’t have to be just on a sofa or bed. You can add it to any vignette if you just get creative.
The last piece of decor that I always add to my vignettes are vintage books. I love me some vintage books!!! I even shared a few more ways I use them in my home HERE. You can even strip the cover off of the book and add some greenery to the top like I did here.
So fresh and so clean was the goal, and I love how this space turned out. Whatever your style is, remember you can add these 3 simple steps to get a new look that you love. That’s all for today, but stay tuned for a few more spaces coming soon. Thanks so much for visiting me today, and HAPPY NEW YEAR friends!!!!
