My laundry room got a makeover last week, and Iâm so giddy to share it with you guys! I have been wanting to give my laundry room a refresh for about a year now but was kind of stuck getting a clear vision on how I wanted it to look. I started making some vision boards and came up with my mush-haves. I knew I wanted wallpaper, green cabinets, and a mix of patterns. I loved the idea of it having a cottage-cozy feel to it. I finally landed on a design that I loved and canât wait for you to see how I created a cottage-style laundry room. Before I share the reveal, itâs important to see where I started when we moved in to how it looked before this makeover. You can find both in this post. Now, let me share my vision with you!
Laundry Room Vision Board

Cottage-style design brings a warm, timeless charm that makes even the most mundane household tasks feel a little more magical. And the laundry room? Itâs the perfect space to infuse with that cozy cottage character. Here are a few ways that I brought this cottage look to life.
- Add Some Whimsy with Wallpaper- I hung this vintage floral wallpaper
- Soft, Airy Colors- I painted my cabinets Cast Iron by SW.
- Incorporate Open Shelving + Baskets- I painted my shelves Cast Iron by SW and used baskets for texture and organization on the open shelves. I also added wood brackets to my shelves and painted those as well.
- Natural Textures and Mixed Patterns- I added a jute rug, gingham lamp, and floral curtain for a vintage look.
- Keep It Cozy but Functional- We also added shiplap behind shelves, added a new light fixture, and new hardware to the shelves
Laundry Room Reveal
I just want to live in this room!! I literally did laundry all last weekend just so I could be in here. Itâs so fun and cozy and honestly, better than I expected.
First, I painted the cabinets Cast Iron by SW. I used Behr Cabinet Paint and was so impressed with how well it went on my cabinets. Cast Iron is the prettiest greige color and is exactly what I had envisioned. I love how it pulls the green out in the wallpaper.
I decided to bring the same color up to my shelves. I also added some wooden brackets to the shelves, and I just love how they instantly changed the look of them.
Wallpaper-
The star of the room is really this wallpaper! It is from ONDECOR Store and itâs called the Vintage Garden Wallpaper and itâs so beautiful! It also comes in brown and green, but I fell in love with this color. I also loved all the colors in the flowers and the painted on design was stunning!
I found this cute laundry drying rack and knew I had to have it. This one came from Hobby Lobby, and I painted it but you can find a similar white laundry drying rack HERE.
I carried the same color as the cabinets out into my cubbies and just love how pretty it looks all together!
I finished off the look by hanging a new light fixture. I also put down a jute rug, and for the most controversial decision, I added this little floral cafe curtain below my sink. It might not be for everyone, but I just loved how it looked. For decor, I added the cutest gingham lamp and a few plants.
Cottage-Style Laundry Room Before and After
My laundry room now feels so cozy and a place that actually makes me want to do laundry. Your laundry room might be one of the most utilized spots in your home, but that doesnât mean it canât be beautiful. With a little creativity and a few cozy touches, you can transform it into a space that you love too!
