Part of my New Year’s resolution and part of that involves getting my house organized. Not just clean but REALLY organizing every area that feels out of control. One area that I am starting with is this “catch all”  kitchen desk area. This spot gets all the homework, bills, change, toys, random socks, etc. You get the idea. It stays and mess all the time, and I’m SO ready for a change. My goal is to be more intentional and to finally use this space for what it’s made for. So, I got busy weeding out old papers and bills and started with a clean slate. Then, I headed to Kirkland’s  (my go-to place for all things home) to find the perfect storage for my kitchen desk area organization goals. I can’t wait to show you how it looks now!!!
Kitchen Desk Area Organization
So, here it is!! I had so much fun putting this desk area together, and today, I thought it would be fun to show you my 5 kitchen desk area organization tips. I had so much fun making this space not only functional but also pretty using desk and organizational items I found at Kirkland’s.
1. Metal Calendar Wall Organizer
Although we have this large cork board, I thought it needed something else. We were just randomly putting papers up there and it just looked messy. I came up with the perfect solution when I spotted this metal calendar wall organizer at Kirkland’s. It has each day of the week and clips to keep reminders on like party invitations, practice times, and grocery lists. I can’t wait to use this as a fun and functional way to stay organized.
2. Utensil and Letter Desk Organizer
Another piece that was a must have for this space was this white farmhouse style utensil and letter holder. I’m keeping pencils and scissors for homework on one side and important mail and notes on the other. Paper organization is high on my intentional list. I’m making it a goal to only keep what is important and this organizational piece is going to help with that so much! I love the classic white color because it would look great with any type of desk.
3. Add Some Green
A great way to break up your desk area and add some warmth to it is by adding some greenery. Kirkland’s has the best selection of greenery. I decided to go with this fern arrangement in the cutest concrete and gold pot, and love how it looks on my desk. I think greenery is another must have for your desk area. It adds texture and keeps your space looking fresh and pretty.
4. Paper Organizer
Like I mentioned earlier, I am making it a huge goal this year to keep my papers organized. This black and white 2-level desk organizer will be perfect for my kid’s homework and important school papers. They usually just end up getting mixed up in a pile on the desk and forgotten about. This piece will help me keep them separated while looking great at the same time. I love how this piece looks on my desk and it matches the classic black and white color scheme that I am going for.
5. Stylish Desk Chair
So the last tip that I have when you are decorating a desk area is choosing the right chair. The goal is for it to be stylish and comfy and this black and white French bistro chair that I found at Kirkland’s was the perfect addition to my kitchen desk area. The black and white woven rattan has such a beautiful design and is SO COMFY!! I love the design of this chair so much and gave so much character to this little space.
I also love the light wood frame of this chair to add warmth to my space. The best part about these chairs is that you can use them indoor or outdoor and look great either way.
I am so in love with how this refresh turned out! Kirkland’s made it so easy to update and organized my kitchen desk area with their huge selection of home and organizational decor. I hope these 5 tips will also help you get organized in the new year. It feels so great to finally have this area, that was once a mess, now neat and organized. I think if you want to change your ways and really have function in your home, being intentional is your first step. Plan what you want to do and execute and don’t forget to let Kirkland’s help!!
Thank you so much for stopping by and let me know what you are organizing in the new year!!
