Happy Saturday!! Well, as promised I am continuing my New Year Refresh series. I love decorating my home after the holidays because it allows me to reevaluate everything in my home. It’s a fresh start and a new opportunity to start over if you want. Today, I am sharing with you how I am simplifying my living room in the new year and giving you some living room decor ideas. I already shared my new year entryway with you, and now I’m moving on to the living room. My goal in here is to make a statement with shades of white, rich wood tones, and greens. These tips are simple and can really go with almost any design style.
1. Whites
It’s no secret that I am a neutral decor kind of girl. Give me all the whites!! One huge reason I decorate with shades of neutral colors is because it gives my home a bright and happy look that I love so much. This past summer, I painted my downstairs living room Alabaster White by SW and that is honestly one of the best decisions I have ever made from a design standpoint. It instantly brightened everything up. I also added this beautiful white coffee table that really pulled all of my whites together. Whether you add one or two pieces or paint the entire room, I believe adding white touches to your space is a great way to freshen up your home in the new year.
2. Wood Tones
Mixing wood tones is a great way to add a touch of rustic and warmth to any space. I don’t go overboard with wood tones, but I do love them mixed in with my decor. I added a rustic wood mantel to my fireplace that I absolutely love. You don’t have to stick with any certain color of wood. I mixed in a lighter wood tone with my tobacco basket and tied in all the wood tones with DIY wood fireplace cover.
Adding wood decor will instantly give your space a beautiful and warm rustic feel!!
3. Greens
And last but certainly not least is greens!!! Don’t forget the greens. I added my favorite stems to these white vases and this simple piece of decor makes a huge statement. Since my fireplace is the focal point of my living room, the greens really make my decor pop.
See, it just adds a natural element. So fresh and so beautiful. I also love the color that it brings to my living room!
See, wasn’t that simple? Just three small ways that you can make your space feel fresh in the new year. I’m still searching for a few more pieces in here to finish off my decor, but for now, I am loving the simplified look. I hope you guys enjoyed my living room decor ideas and thanks for visiting the blog! Have a blessed day!!

Hey Sherry! So happy you like them! These are my all time favorite stems. I found them at a store called Chic Artique. They have a website you can visit too.

You have such a beautiful home! I’m new to Bless This Nest, and I’m thrilled that I’ve found you! I have to tell you that I really appreciate how you share where you purchased your furnishings and accent pieces with your readers. So many home bloggers don’t share this, which is unfortunate for those of us who aren’t so blessed with the gift of creating beautiful home decor. LOL! On that note, I am wondering if you’d share where you found your rug?
Cheers!
